Rita Berkowitz

Dear Rita,

I am writing you to express my deepest gratitude and thanks for a reading
that I had with you back in June. A lover of mine named Mark came through,
and true to his personality, made the reading quite joyous, happy, and fun.

You described him, both physically and personality wise, to a T. I
believe he enjoyed the reading just as much as we did! He made us both laugh
throughout the call. Your drawing of him is absolutely amazing-it took my
breath away. The details of his features-from his dark wavy hair, to his
eyes, to the dent in his chin are all incredible. I feel like this is his gift
to me, and I hold it sacred and will treasure it always. From the bottom
of my heart Rita thank you-you are an amazing and gifted human being. God
Bless and much love to you always!

As I was coming up on the third anniversary of the death of my beautiful daughter Kyla, I knew I wanted to do something special for myself. I was pondering what that would be when a friend shared her experience with a psychic medium. I had been to a psychic right after Kyla had died, and although I felt he touched on some things I left feeling rather disappointed that more from Kyla had not come through. I asked my friend many questions about this psychic and she sent me a link to OfSpirit to read about her.

The psychic medium's name is Rita Berkowitz and after reading about her I couldn't help but be intrigued by the spirit drawings she does. After about of week of indecision, and with my heart beating in my throat I decided to call and make an appointment for a telephone reading with Rita. I didn't know what to expect but as soon as I heard her voice a sense of calm came over me. We made an appointment for the following week.

Over the next week I tried to center myself and asked Kyla to come through strong to Rita for me. Finally the morning of the reading came and I lit a candle, said a little prayer, and called Rita. Rita asked if I would just like to see who came through or to give her a name. Because I really wanted to connect with Kyla, I gave her only the name Kyla and no other information. And with that the reading began.

Rita described Kyla, how she felt before her death, and her personality perfectly. Then Rita went on to describe my mother who had also passed, and with that probably came the most incredible and important message of the whole reading. Rita told me that my mother was telling me to stop worrying about the baby I was holding, that I was being overprotective and worrying to much about his health. I was flabbergasted! No one could have known that since my baby Jack had been born in December I had been worrying myself sick over his health! I had already taken him to an oncologist over some swollen lymph nodes, to the doc over one of his eyes crossing, and sitting up night after night with a knot in my stomach worrying that he too would die and leave me. I was making myself crazy, and Rita told me my mother was adamant about both Jack and me being fine.

The rest of the reading was equally impressive and put my mind at ease. Rita was very nurturing and also talked to me about concerns and questions I have, which makes her unique to some other mediums. She seems to feel a genuine concern for the person she is doing the reading for. She doesn't rush, takes time to explain, and treats the person she is doing the reading for with the utmost respect.

As I wasn't there face to face to see the drawing Rita was doing for Kyla she described each feature as she was putting it on paper. It was an incredible experience. I waited anxiously for the drawing to arrive the next week. When it did I was almost too afraid to open it! Finally my husband and I sat down together and opened the drawing. As we unrolled the picture we both saw a close resemblance to our little girl looking back at us. It wasn't exact, but as an artist myself I know how hard it is to draw exactly what you are seeing. Regardless there is no doubt in my mind that Rita was seeing my sweet sunshine Kyla as she drew the picture. She captured the chubby cheeks, blue green eyes, and essence of our little girl.

I saw my reading with Rita as a chance to hear from my daughter who I sorely miss. I went into the reading with realistic expectations and an open mind. I left the reading with a lighter heart, a beautiful drawing, and ultimately a message that I was desperately needing to hear about my son. I would highly recommend Rita to anyone who wanted to try a reading with a psychic medium. Not only does she obviously have that gift she also has the gifts of understanding and compassion.

Bob,

I am responding to this E-Mail pertaining to a visit which Rita Berkowitz took the time to visit my home on January 11, 2002.  When I spoke with Rita, I indicated that my Son was killed and did not give her any detail on the cause of death.  When I indicated this to my husband Norman that we were going to have a Medium over to the house, he did not believe in the Spiritual World, I told my husband to have an open mind and to see what would transpire.

Rita arrived about 7:15 PM that Friday evening, and as soon as she walked into the kitchen she truly felt alot of energy and warmth thru the entire house.  She felt at peace and she could sense that we had alot of family members who have passed on to the other side.

We started with an opening prayer in the kitchen and from there she went into the family room, the first person she made contact with was Norman's Father, Rita described his father to a Tee and how he sat in the recliner in front of the TV set.  She felt how Norman's father died, and she mentioned certain things that no one would know about.   Rita had a message for Norman from his father, and told Norman that he was sorry that he did not say goodbye and that he truly Love Norman and that he wanted Rita to hug Norman from his Dad.

The next person to come thru was Norman's Brother Billy, and she was also able to describe the way Billy died.  Also, she informed us that his Dad & Billy were really upset on who got the car, and no one new the story.  Prior to Billy's death, Norman and I gave Billy a car which was 1995 Crown Vic in the year 1999 which had only 34,000 miles and it was still like new.  His brother was just so happy.  Five months later Billy died, and the same day one of the other family members went into the garage and decided to keep it, without even consulting us.  We were truly upset with this particular situation, and we finally got over it.

Finally, the moment we were waiting for was our Son Brian and Rita could not express the way Brian died.  She keeled over and had truly change she was shaking and could not discuss it.  I new at that point I needed to inform Rita that Brian was killed on 9/11/01 on the Second Plane which hit the Tower - United Flight #175.  My concern was who was there to meet Brian when he was crossing over, and she described this Elegant Lady and what she was wearing.  I new exactly who she was and she had passed on 5 Months before Brian, her name was Grace.  Grace lost her husband 5 months before her death, and that is when our Son made himself available to take her to the bank and also do errands.  Brian would check on her once a week to make sure that she was eating.  It was after Brian's death that we became aware of what he did.  Grace would tell people that she had a special Angel and that was our Brian.

Rita proceeded to go into the different rooms and could not believe the spirits which were present.  At one point our chandlier in the dinning room proceeded to Blink and dimmer and that was a gift from Brian our Son.  Also, we heard voices in the background & she described a playful little girl around 4 years old in our living room and that would be our daughter Kathleen who also crossed over 27 Years ago.   Rita was totally amazed with all of my family members from the other side, she said it was like they were at a party.

When the evening ended we concluded with a prayer in a circle and we hugged each other.  Rita left the house and Norman and I sat and talked about what had transpired with the messages which was given to us.  We were both elated and filled with joy and love.  It was by far the best day we had since Brian's death.  We could not believe the specific details that were relayed especially from Norman's father & brother Billy.  It proved to us without a doubt that Brian was with his grandfather and his uncle Billy and that they are all around us in such a spiritual way.  I have shared my story with special people.

On March 30 I sat with Rita and she shared something about how Brian was murdered, and deep down in my heart, that is how I felt.  Rita, said that Brian's was now on the other side to meet the people who was crossing over.

On July 11, I received a phone call from one of my customers who call to tell me that his son was killed on Tuesday Evening in a car accident and he was only 16 years old.  When the hospital pronounce his son dead the first person who he thought about was my Son Brian and that he hopes that Brian was there to meet with his son who was crossing over.  He told me that he feels Brian around him, and he never had the opportunity to meet my son.  My son Brian was truly a special person and he was a gift to the universe.  They even dedicated a square after him.

Rita captured the essence of my grandmother in my Spirit Drawing. I had no doubt that my Mimi was there. During the reading, Rita confirmed numerous things about my Mimi from having afternoon tea and cookies on "fine china" to her favorite color. The most healing and affirming part of my reading was when Rita said: "Mimi thanks you for making her house a home, that is all she ever wanted". I moved into her house a little over a year ago and really struggled with changing the decor to my taste. On some level I knew that my Mimi did not hold onto unnecessary resentments and material objects on the other side, that love is the only rule. I do find it extremely comforting to know that my Mimi is there and that she approves and is happy that I have kept her dream alive. I feel truly blessed to have had this experience.

Dear Bob,

Rita asked me to write to you about my experience with her spirit drawing for my 4 year old daughter , Lillianna. Last year I took Lillianna for her first spirit drawing. My husband, Rich had a spirit drawing done the year before by Rita. It showed that he was a knight in a past life. He thought it was quite interesting so he encouraged me to take our daughter.

Rita said it would be ok for me to sit in while the drawing was being done and I am glad she allowed that. I was completely fascinated. She sat across from Lillianna and held her hands. Rita said there were 2 very strong women around Lillianna and she described them. I immediately recognized the descriptions. She said she would draw one of them. After a few moments she began to draw while Lillianna chatted away.

As soon as the outline of the face was drawn I wanted to cry. She was drawing Rich's mother, Ann, who died at the age of 27 when Rich was only 4 years old. Ann has always been a big mystery in Rich's family since all 4 children were so young when she died. Rich barely remembers his mother but Lillianna is named for his Nana Lillian (Ann's mother), my Nana Lillian and Rich's mom, Ann. We always suspected Ann was around Lillianna because Lillianna talks about her constantly. When the drawing was completed I was stunned. The picture that Rita drew was identical to one we had at home.

Rita said that many times spirit will come through in a way that we will recognize it from a picture we already have. If you have seen it then you know she captured the brown hair at the exact shoulder length, with the identical dip in the hair on her forehead. The face is the same shape although Ann was much softer and prettier in real life than in the spirit drawing. As Rita drew it she said, "I am not doing her justice. She was a very pretty woman." The shirt she drew was the same style and color as in our own photograph.

I didn't know how I was going to show this spirit drawing to Rich. Rita suggested doing it slowly. When he came home from work I sat him down and told him that the session with Rita went well and that his mother came through. I told him to take a deep breath and I showed him the drawing. He was speechless which is something my husband has never been!  He just couldn't believe it. He thought it looked just like his mother. He was so happy to have proof that there is more to life than just what we see. He had the confirmation he needed to know that his loved ones who have passed are still very much with him. I was pleased because I always suspected Ann was around Lillianna and to have that confirmed meant that my thoughts were correct.

I would like to add a quick story about Rita's reading for me that took place last year.
During my reading my dad came through and Rita said she was tasting cream filled Italian pastry. I told her my dad was a bread baker and he liked to eat devil dogs. She said it wasn't the cream of devil dogs it was definitely Italian pastry. Then I remembered that he did like to occasionally eat neopolitan pastries. She said she would leave it at that but she didn't feel like that was it either.

A week later I was telling my Aunt about the reading. She said, "Well you know your father originally went to baking school to be a pastry chef, don't you?" I said, "No way...I never heard that before." She yelled to my uncle who is my father's brother and he said, "It's true. Charlie originally went to school  to be a pastry chef." I was stunned!! He died when he was 51 and I was 24. I had NEVER heard about that and yet it came through to Rita. It was such an obscure fact and Rita never accepted my explanation of him enjoying neopolitans. She kept saying it was something else. She was right.

Hi Bob,

Lets see, where to begin?  I have had the pleasure of receiving three Spirit drawings from Rita. My first experience was when Rita visited our church as a guest Medium. This was my first time seeing Rita and her unique talent. I watched her do a drawing with a reading for two people in attendance and was fascinated.  The Pastor told her there was time to do one more and Rita asked who would like one done. My hand shot up and Rita picked me saying that anyone that fast deserves a drawing.

As she began to draw and bring through the Spirit she saw, I was unclear who the person was. It could have been one of two people, my uncle or my father, both of whom I worked with in the family business. While I was unsure, my sister-in-law and a friend who had also worked in the business, both recognized my uncle. After getting more info both verbally and visually I also knew it was my uncle. The information this stranger brought through along with a drawing that bore a striking resemblance to my uncle helped to prove to me that Rita was the real deal. I will add that I was at the time already a confirmed Spiritualist and true believer in life after death and our abilities to communicate with the world of Spirit.

My second drawing was done after Rita became an Associate Pastor of our church. It was done at a Mediums day and she drew one of my teachers from Spirit. While I know that there is no way to verify who this person is or compare him to a photo, I am sure in my heart and my head that he is who Rita said. In this case I believe the message was what was really important and what made me sure Rita was right on the money. I believe that while her talent and ability to draw Spirit are absolutely amazing, I believe that her ability to bring through proof of life after death, and the healing words are even greater. This was a case where the drawing was more like a bonus prize at the end. The connection she made and answers she brought through were a very healing and comforting experience for me.

The third drawing came to me at another Mediums day at our church. To appreciate the significance of the drawing, I will give you a little background. As I said earlier, I grew up working in our family business of refinishing furniture. After working in the business through my teens the business was sold after my parents divorced. My father tried his hand at various other jobs as did I. After several years, we decided that we both wanted to work together again as that was when we were truly happy. My father and I had always been father and son, but we were always best friends as well. I grew up wanting to be just like him. He is still one of the biggest guiding forces in my life.

After making the decision to go back to work and set up a new refinishing shop together, the only thing left to do was find the right location. I received a phone call from him on a Saturday morning telling me that he found a place and wanted me to see it. He had called me at work and I was just finishing a sixteen hour shift.  I was tired and wanted only to sleep. We talked a little and ended with me saying I was going home to bed and that if the place was good enough for him, it was good enough for me. I knew that he was disappointed but I was too tired to go. Four hours later I got a phone call telling me he had passed.

That was fifteen years ago. I have received messages from him at church and I
can also feel him around me. I ask him for guidance and seek his advice to this day.

Fast forward to the morning of the Mediums day where I received the drawing. As I was drying off from my shower and fixing my hair, I noticed that it was beginning to thin more and more. I thought that it would be nice to see my Dad now so that I would have some idea of how much I might lose. I chuckled at my vanity and went on about the day. When I received my drawing Rita brought through my Dad. The message she brought through said all the things a son needs to hear from his dad now and then.

Again  it was a healing and comforting experience. Rita never met my dad, so as
she was drawing him she was unaware of what he looked like before he passed.
She did the hair last and then signed and dated the drawing. It was then
that I told her of the thoughts I had that morning and pointed out that the
hairline she drew was different than what he had at the time of his passing.
It was shown receded much more than it had been (something to look forward
to) and was his answer to my question. As I looked at the drawing again, I
noticed that the date Rita had signed was incorrect. Instead of the correct
date (mid-May) it was dated March twenty sixth, my birthday.

Blessings,
Peter M.

My family has met with Rita Berkowitz on two separate occasions with the intent of connecting with our son who has recently passed.  Rita has an incredible gift that she is willing to share with families like mine who are trying to understand and cope with the loss of a loved one.  Through Rita we have been able to connect with our son, and other family members and we have no doubt that our son was present at both readings.  The information Rita brought to us was incredible. Her physical descriptions of our family members were very detailed and accurate.  She mentioned things that no one outside our family would have or could have known, shared memories that only each of us would remember.   Rita's compassion and belief in her work has helped us learn about the after life that awaits us all.  She has been a tremendous help in our grief work, and we have been able to learn to accept our loss and live with it.  We move forward in our grief work with the knowledge and belief that our son will always be with us, and can hear us as we talk to him.  This has brought great comfort to our family and for that we are eternally grateful.

Thank you Rita for all you have done and continue to do......

I connected with Rita when we became coauthors of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Communicating with Spirits. As a writer specializing in lifestyle topics, I’m often assigned to write books in collaboration with those who are experts in the subject matter. Shortly after we started working together, I asked Rita to do a spirit reading and drawing for me that we could then use in the book. I live on the West coast and Rita lives on the East coast, so we set up a telephone appointment.

At this point in our working relationship, Rita knew nothing about me except that I have two children, a dog, and two cats. The first spirit to make an appearance was an elderly woman who, frankly, could have been any of a number of relatives who had passed – interesting but not conclusive. The second spirit who came through to Rita was my father, who had passed in 1996. Rita gave clear and accurate descriptions of the circumstances of his physical death and details of his personality that were unmistakable. Then she drew him, describing as she was drawing what she could see. I was very excited; it sounded so much like my father that I couldn’t wait to see the drawing. After she finished the drawing Rita conveyed several specific messages from my father, deeply personal information that only he could have known. It was a joyous and profoundly moving experience.

While I waited impatiently for Rita’s drawing to arrive, I went through my box of pictures to pull out those I thought might be how my father had appeared to Rita. Rita had cautioned me that spirits choose the way they present themselves and that how my father presented might be different from what I expect, so I selected a range of pictures. When I opened the tube containing the drawing and unrolled it, however, the drawing looked nothing like any of the pictures. In fact, it didn’t even look that much like my father! Disappointed, I started cleaning up the piles of memorabilia I had sorted through in my search for pictures. A newspaper clipping fluttered out of a handful of papers and fell into my lap, and I felt like my heart stopped. Grainy and yellowed, it was a photo of my father, posing with a group of men from a civic organization he belonged to in the 1970s when I was a teenager. And it was the image in Rita’s drawing – so precise that it looked as though Rita had drawn it from the photo!

As Rita and I worked together to write the rest of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Communicating with Spirits, I had the pleasure of learning more about Rita and her talents as a medium and as an artist. She is truly gifted!
